Podściółka
Obfita, sucha i miękka podściółka sprzyja zabezpiecze- niu zdrowia konia i szybkiemu powrotowi sił po ciężkiej pracy. Podczas chłodnej pory roku obfita podściółka jest konieczną.
Słoma służąca jako podściółka powinna być rozesłana w stanowisku równomiernie. Kał powinien być z niej uprzątany natychmiast. Codziennie z rana podściółka po- winna być przebrana, przyczem bardziej suchą jej część, zdatną do powtórnego użycia, oddziela się celem wysuszenia podczas pogody na dworze, podczas niepogody w przejściu między stanowiskami, a w żadnym razie nie pod żłobem. Mokrą i starą podściółkę wyrzuca się razem z nawozem.
Podściółkę należy rozściełać po wydaniu racji wieczor- nej, jak również po usilnej pracy i pozostawiać do rannego czyszczenia.
Dla porządku, aby podściółka nie zaśmiecała przejścia, należy rozściełać przy wylocie stanowiska splecione grube, słomiane powrósło. Przejścia należy posypywać piaskiem.
Bedding
Abundant, dry and soft bedding is conducive to safeguarding the health of horses and their rapid return of strength after hard work. During the cold season, abundant bedding is parti- cularly necessary.
Straw, serving as bedding, should be distributed evenly in the stall. Droppings should be mucked out immediately every morning and bedding should be turned, and where possible its drier part, fit for reuse, should be separated for drying in good weather outside and during
inclement weather in the passageway between stalls, and in no circumstances under the feeding trough. Wet and broken bedding should be mucked out together with droppings.
Bedding should be spread in the stall following the issue of the evening feed, as well as after strenuous work and left to be mucked out in the morning.
For the sake of order, used bedding should not litter the passageway, but a thick woven matting of straw should be spread at the entrance to the stall. Passageways should be sprinkled with sand.
