Kąpanie
Kąpanie konia stosuje się w okresie letnim. Kąpać konie należy jak najczęściej, najlepiej pod wieczór na godzinę przed obrokiem, lub wczesnym rankiem, nigdy zaś w południe.
Dla kąpieli należy wybierać miejsce nie bardzo głębokie z piaszczystym dnem. Nie wolno pławić koni zgrzanych lub bez- pośrednio po obfitym karmieniu, jak również koni chorych, a tak- że klaczy źrebnych lub karmiących. Jeżeli woda nie pokrywa ca- łego konia, należy ręką obmywać szyję i krzyż. Do kąpieli należy konie prowadzić stępa. Woda powinna mieć około 16 stopni C. Nie należy trzymać koni w wodzie dłużej nad 10–20 m. Po wyjściu z wody utrzymywać konia przez pewien czas w ruchu, aby zapobiec zaziębieniu; wodę z sierści wycisnąć, a po przypro- wadzeniu do stajni wytrzeć konia do sucha i przykryć derką.
Bathing
Bathing of horses may take place in the summer. Horses should be bathed as often as possible, preferably in the evening an hour before feeding time, or early in the morning, but never at noon.
For bathing, a place should be chosen that is not too deep, with a sandy bottom. One must not bathe horses that are still hot from riding or immediately after heavy feeding, and likewise in the case of sick horses and pregnant or lactating mares. If the water does not cover the whole horse, one should hand wash the neck and lower back. Horses should be walked to the bathing place. The water should be about 16 degrees centi- grade. Do not keep horses in the water longer than 10 – 20 minutes. After leaving the water, keep the horse in motion for some time to prevent chills; squeeze water from the hair and after returning the horse to its stall, wipe it dry and cover it with a blanket.
