Porządek w stajni
Wszystkie przybory stajenne powinny być stale na miejscu i w stanie używalnym. Wszelki nawóz musi być natychmiast ze stajni usuwany. Nawóz z przedziałów usuwa się miotłami lub szuflami, wideł wolno używać tylko wówczas, gdy koń nie stoi w przegrodzie. Żłoby należy przed każdem karmieniem oczyścić. Podłogi i ścieki muszą być utrzymane w porządku i w miarę potrzeby naprawiane. Stajnia musi być możliwie często wietrzona, jednak bez narażania koni na przeciąg. Należy dbać również o odpowiednią ciepłotę. Najlepszą temperaturą w stajni jest około 9 stopni C. W ogólnej stajni powinien być termometr. W czasie upału należy stajnię skrapiać wodą W razie zimna na rozkaz przykrywa się konie kocami. Obrok i siano należy przechowywać w specjalnych komorach pod zamknięciem, zabezpieczając je przed wilgocią. Owies (ziarno) trzymać o ile możności w skrzyniach.
W każdej stajni powinno być na pluton dwoje wideł, dwie miotły, dwie szufle, dwie taczki do nawozu i na każde trzy konie jedno wiadro na wodę. Raz na tydzień (najlepiej w sobotę po obiedzie) po wyprowadzeniu wszystkich koni ze stajni należy obetrzeć sufit i ściany pękami słomy, które się przywiązuje do tyczek. Dobrze jest dla oczyszczenia powietrza wieszać w stajni gałązki młodego jałowca, zmieniając je dwa razy na miesiąc.
Keeping stables in order
All stable equipment should be kept in its permanent place and in usable condition. Any drop- pings must be immediately removed from the stables. Droppings are to be removed from stalls by means of brooms or shovels. Forks may only be used when the horse is not in the stall. Feed troughs should be cleaned before each feeding. Floors and waste channels must be kept in order and if necessary, repaired. Stables must be ventilated as often as possible, but without exposing the horses to a draught. Stables should also be adequately heated. The best temperature for stables is about 9 degrees centigrade. A general stable should have a thermometer. During
a heat wave, stables should be sprinkled with water, and in cold conditions, orders should be given for horses to be covered with blankets. Fodder and hay must be stored in special closed boxes, protected from damp. As far as possible, oats (grain) are to be stored in boxes.
In every stable, there should be two forks, two brooms, 2 shovels, and 2 wheelbarrows for droppings per platoon and for every 3 horses, 1 bucket for water. Once a week (preferably Satur- day, after lunch) after all horses have been led out of the stables, the ceiling and walls should be swept using bundles of straw attached to poles. A good way of airing stables is to hang twigs of young juniper, changing these twice a month.
