Był samodzielną jednostką wchodzącą w skład najpierw I Bry- gady Jazdy, a następnie 2 Dywizji Kawalerii.” Do zadań pułku należały szkolenia, służba garnizonowa oraz – po rozwiązaniu Szwadronu Przybocznego Prezydenta RP – obowiązki repre- zentacyjne. W czasie przewrotu majowego pułk brał udział
w walkach po stronie marszałka Piłsudskiego, w czasie których zginęło 20 żołnierzy, a rannych zostało 93.
Dowódcami pułku byli: rtm. Gustaw Orlicz-Dreszer, rtm. Jan Głogowski, mjr dypl. Jerzy Grobicki, ppłk dypl. Bo- lesław Wieniawa-Długoszowski, ppłk dypl. Jan Karcz, płk dypl. Antoni Durski-Trzaska i płk dypl. Janusz Albrecht.

After the war, the regiment spent a brief time in the Chełm barracks and was then transferred to Warsaw, to the barracks on Huzarska Street. During the two decades of the interwar period, the regiment consisted of a command, four detach- ments of the line, a machine gun detachment, a communications platoon and an economic section. This was an independent entity, firstly part of the Mounted Brigade and later the 2nd Cavalry Division. “The regiment’s tasks included training, garrison duties and – following the decommissioning of the Ceremonial Guard of Honour – state duties. The regiment took part the in the May coup, fighting on the side of the Marshal, during which 20 soldiers were killed and 93 injured.
The commanders of the regiment were: Capt. Gustaw Orlicz-Dreszer, Capt. Jan Głogowski, Major Jerzy Grobicki, Lieutenant Colonel Bolesław Wieniawa-Długoszow- ski, Lieutenant Colonel Jan Karcz, Col. Antoni Durski-Trzaska and Col. Janusz Albrecht.
