Spośród licznych organizacji młodzieżo- wych wyróżniał się Związek Młodzieży Socjalistycznej, wywodzący się ze Związ- ku Młodzieży Polskiej, rozwiązanego w 1957 r. Koła ZMS istniały w każdej szkole, a masowe uczestnictwo było często oparte na przymusie. Aktywna działalność w Związku mogła być wstę- pem do kariery w Polskiej Zjednoczonej Partii Robotniczej. Ostatecznie w 1976 r. ZMS został zastąpiony przez Związek Socjalistycznej Młodzieży Polskiej, istniejący do dziś. 1976.
Among numerous youth organizations, the Socialist Youth Association was the most prominent one – it stemmed from the Polish Youth Association disbanded in 1957. The clubs of the Socialist Youth Association were present in every school and the mass membership was often a result of compul- sion. Active membership in the Association could be the beginning of one’s career in the Polish United Workers’ Party. Finally, in 1976, the Socialist Youth Association was replaced by the Polish Socialist Youth Association, which has been active to this day. 1976.
