Cześć operacji budowlanych była wręcz pionierska, jak przesuwanie czy obracanie zabytkowych budowli, m.in. kościoła Narodzenia NMP i pałacu Lubomirskich w War- szawie. Niestety często podczas budowy nowych obiektów wyburzano relikty przedwojennej
zabudowy. Nie wszystkie inwestycje były udane, czę-
sto kupowano licencje na sprzęt przestarzały i niedostosowany do potrzeb krajowych. Tak było w przypadku licencji na autobusy Berliet, zakupionej z przyczyn politycznych, aby wspomóc upadające francuskie zakłady. Produkowane na tej licencji autobusy Jelcz PR100 i PR110 nieustannie się
single-family housing. ‘Concrete houses’ were criticized for their mass character, no connection with the previous urban fabric, cramped conditions and bad layout of flats, although they provided a roof over the heads of numerous families. Some housing estates were decorated with original sculp- tures of famous artists (often real pieces of art), which usu- ally did not survive years of devastation and deteriorated due to the lack of appropriate maintenance.
Moreover, some pioneering construction operations were also performed at that time, like moving or turning histori- cal buildings, such as the Holy Virgin Nativity Church and the Lubomirski Palace in Warsaw. Unfortunately, during the construction of new buildings, the relics of the pre-war building development were often knocked down.
However, not all investment projects were successful. Sometimes licences for outdated equipment, unfit for the country’s requirements, were purchased. This was the case

The most important investments included the initiation of the production of computers and the constant improve- ment of technology, being an important step in the coun- try’s informatization. They were used mainly in the industry and scientific computing centres as well as other institutions
