Where a situation suddenly arises, for instance on a ride where there is no veterinary assis- tance available, the duty of every soldier is to be capable of providing immediate help for the sick horse, in order to then lead it to a place where medical assistance will be given. For this pur- pose, section veterinary doctors organize popular lectures for all privates to teach them how to give first aid: 1) in the case of injury and cuts (stopping the flow of blood, washing the wound and dressing it). 2) in the case of colic.
Horse reviews	- Commanders carry out reviews of the horses of the entire division by detachments or platoons. The horses are arranged for review according to age, mount status or in accordance with page 296 of the present Regulations (initial countdown to a drill). Every section should be trained in these two ways of arranging horses for review. Horses are lined up in one row or two according to the command and place, and where the horses are arranged in two rows, the distance between the rows is to be 6 to 10 steps. The youngest generation mounts are lined up on the wing from which the inspection parade will begin (if the horses are lined up according to age group).
