More than 20 million scans available in Search the Archives service.

We would like to inform you that we have added more than 2 million new scans of the historic documentation from the state archives’ resources to the Search the Archives service.

The total number of the available materials has thus exceeded 20 million.

The service was updated with the scans of files of the Cities of Kraków and Lublin and of the further registry office records from the current Lubelskie, Małopolskie, Podlaskie, Wielkopolskie and Mazowieckie Provinces, being the basis for research on family history.

Created and developed by the National Digital Archives, the Search the Archives service is the largest on-line source of historical documentation. In addition to the registry office records and registers from thousands of Polish towns, censuses (of, among others, Kraków, Poznań and Łódź) and family archives, which constitute the basic source of information for research on family history, the service offers an opportunity to view, among others, city files, documentation of the Polish Government in exile, Capital City Reconstruction Office, “Radio Free Europe” Polish Broadcasting Station, and documentation concerning Nazi concentration camps and Łódź ghetto. Since its launch in 2009, the service has been visited by more than 2 million users. Ca. 5 thousand people use it every day.
