Po wyczyszczeniu konia należy go wytrzeć suknem. Nogi wyciera się pękami słomy i suknem. Oczy wyciera się płócienkiem. Czuprynę, grzywę i ogon czyści się starannie szczotką, rozdzielając palcami włosień, raz na tydzień myje się mydłem i letnią wodą. Zabrania się zaplatać grzywy i ogony, natomiast w czasie błota pozwala się podwiązywać ogony. (...) Koń po umyciu powinien być zawsze przed wprowadzeniem do stanowiska zupełnie osuszony.
Mycie zabłoconych koni zimą i w czasie chłodu jest wzbro- nione. Do mycia siwych koni dobrze jest używać wody z dodatkiem farbki lub węgla drzewnego.
(...) Kończyny konia należy myć często, szczególnie gdy są pokryte brudem i błotem. Po umyciu należy kończyny wytrzeć i osuszyć, szczególniej pęciny winny być najstaranniej osuszone. Nie po- winno tam pozostawać nawet najmniejszej ilości błota, piasku lub pyłu, a żołnierz winien meldować o każdem zauważonem zadraśnięciu lub zaczerwienieniu.

Grooming should be done carefully, according to the following instructions:
When grooming the left side of a horse, hold the brush in the left hand, and vice versa. Begin by grooming the left side, starting from the neck and working towards the withers, then along the legs as far as the fetlocks. Brush the horse in the direction of its coat. After each brushing of the horse’s body, use the currycomb to remove dirt from the brush. (...)
After grooming the horse, wipe it down with a cloth. Legs should be wiped with straw and a cloth. Eyes must be wiped with a linen cloth. Groom its forelock, mane and tail thoroughly with a brush, separating the hairs with one’s fingers and once a week, wash these with soap and luke- warm water. It is forbidden to braid manes and tails, but when conditions are muddy it is permit- ted to tie the tail up. (...) After washing, the horse should always be completely dried before being returned to its stall.
Washing muddy horses in the winter and during cold spells is prohibited. To wash grey horses it is best to use water with the addition of dye or charcoal.
