Amarant
Amarant to barwa polskiej kawalerii. Ten charakterystyczny kolor pojawiał się na znakach pułkowych i mundurach. Amarantowe było tło sztandaru 1 Pułku Szwoleżerów, paski na proporcach, lancach i buńczukach, jeden z kolorów emaliowanej tarczki odznaki pułkowej, materiał, z którego szyto czap- raki koni plutonu trębaczy oraz tło płomieni przy fanfarach. Tego samego koloru były niektóre ele- menty umundurowania: otoki czapek,wypustki mundurów, patki na kołnierzach, czy lampasy spodni.
Amarant, czasem karmazyn, kontrastował z innymi kolorami znaków pułkowych takimi jak srebro, biel i granat oraz z brunat- noszaro-zieloną barwą mundurów.
Amaranthine
Amaranthine is the colour of the Polish cavalry. This characteristic hue appeared on regi- mental colours and uniforms. Amaranthine was the background colour on the banner of the 1st Light Cavalry Regiment, the stripes on pennants, lances and panaches, one of the colours of the shield on enamel regimental badges, the material from which were sewn the caparisons for platoon trumpeter’s horses and the background colour for heraldic trumpet banners. This colour was also used in such elements of uniforms as cap bands, the piping on uniforms, collar tabs and trouser stripes.
Amaranthine, sometimes crimson, contrasted with the colours of other regimental badges such as silver, white, and navy blue and the brownish-grey-green colour of the uniforms.
